Lucas Pope, creator of Papers, Please, has released a few details for his next game, Return of the Obra Dinn.

The game takes place in 1808 when the merchant ship the Obra Dinn, which was declared lost at sea six years prior, shows up at the Cape of Good Hope with no crew and damaged sails. Players take on the role of an insurance adjustor for the East India Company’s London Office as they seek out the captain’s logbook for assessment.

Pope says the game will be much different from previous games he has created, including Papers, Please, writing on TIGSource about the game, “There’ll be less creativity with the gameplay and instead I want to experiment with the rendering, story, and a few technical features.”
