David OReilly, who was behind the video game sequences in the Spike Jonze movie Her, today announced his next project–and it sounds intriguing and ambitious.
The game is called “Everything” and the hook is that every item in the world can be a playable character. “If you can see it, you can be it,” OReilly said in a statement.
“The game lets you see the entire universe from the point of view of the thousands of things in it,” he explained. “In other words, there is no distinction between you and the world, or between a level and a character. All these things experience and interact with the world differently.”
If you have ever day-dreamed about being a horse, a paperclip, or the sun, for example, Everything might be the game you’re looking for. There will also be a number of different “powers” players can use, one of which is called Being. Further details about Everything’s powers will be announced later.
