The highs and lows of Call of Duty’s entire series explored in 2-hour critique

With 11 entries spread across 12 years, it’s no surprise that Activision’s wildly successful Call of Duty series has some ups and downs. It’s had some critical praise and some real stinkers.

But what about when we step back and take a look at the series as a whole?

That’s what YouTuber Noah Caldwell-Gervais decided to do in his most recent video. Beginning with the claim that “every Call of Duty is the same,” Noah sets off to show just how incorrect that is by cataloging and critiquing every PC release in the series, from the first Call of Duty to last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

(It’s worth noting that Noah skips Call of Duty 3 due to the technicality that it was only ever released on consoles.)

The result is a video journey through the Call of Duty series that is over two hours long — longer than many feature films or, if you prefer thinking of it this way, about one-third the length of the average Call of Duty single-player campaign.

For as ridiculous as that length might seem, it’s absolutely worth watching. Whether you’ve got a ton of nostalgia for the series or have just never understood why it’s such a phenomenon, Noah does a great job breaking down what Call of Duty does best.
