Combined sales of Minecraft across all platforms have almost hit 54 million, claims Mojang.
According to Mojang data analyst Patrick Geuder, sales of the console versions of the game have now overtaken total sales of the PC/Mac versions.
Geuder didn’t offer an up to date breakdown of the sales figures for each platform. But according to Mojang’s most recent announcements in April, the PC version had surpassed the 15 million sales milestone, while the Xbox 360 version had climbed over 12 million.
According to the developer, the mobile version had also topped 21 million sales by April.
Mojang has confirmed that the Vita, PS4 and Xbox One versions of Minecraft will launch in August.
Saves will be transferable between the PS3 and Vita versions, meaning players can craft at home then continue on the go and vice versa.
Minecraft PS3 and Vita players will also be able to import their worlds to PS4, but they won’t be able to transfer saves from the new console to the other platforms.
Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will be able to upgrade to the new versions for a “small fee”.
