The League of Legends 2014 World Championship will take place in four cities over five weeks, Riot Games announced today.

The Worlds group stages will be held across Taipei, Singapore and Busan before ending with the 2014 World Final on Oct. 19th at Sangam Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. The stadium was used as venue for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and numerous other sporting and entertainment events in the region. The venue has a capacity of almost 67,000, much larger compared to last year’s venue of 11,000 at the Staples Center, L.A. Riot first announced in November that the 2014 World Championship2014 would be hosted in South Korea.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re going to be hosting The Worlds on the road and hosting group stages in Taipei and Singapore in September,” the latest announcement reads. “The action will then move on to a quarter final showdown in Busan, Korea in October before the victorious teams emerge to battle it out in Seoul (home of defending champions SKT T1 K) in the semifinals and final. We’re looking forward to making our first stop in some of these regions and bringing the most talented League of Legends competitors in the world directly to local fans.”

The stages across Taiwan, Singapore and Korea will introduce a new event format that includes a sixteen team group stage. Three top teams from North America, Europe, Korea and China will join two teams from Taiwan and SEA and two wild card winners to fight in the final. The teams will be placed into four groups and battle it out in the group stages. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.

The number of wild card teams participating have been increased. Latin America will go up against off Brazil at the NA LCS Regional Final. Oceania, CIS and Turkey will fight it out at EU LCS Regional Final for the final spot.
